Skippers Close Out Home Slate with Dominant Win on Sophomore Night, Set Up Championship Showdown Tuesday

Port Huron, MI. — St. Clair County Community College women's basketball capped their final regular‑season home game in style Saturday afternoon, earning a commanding 97–45 victory over Henry Ford College. The win lifts the Skippers to 21–7 overall and 12–1 in MCCAA Eastern Conference play, setting up a high‑stakes matchup on Tuesday at Schoolcraft College for a share of the conference championship.

Saturday's contest also served as Sophomore Night, celebrating the program's second‑year student‑athletes for their leadership and contributions both on and off the court. The Skippers delivered a performance worthy of the occasion, controlling the game from start to finish.

SC4 posted consistent scoring across all four quarters, including a33-point third quarter followed be a strong 22-point finish to close out the game. The team shot an impressive 45.1% from the field and forced Henry Ford into difficult looks throughout the afternoon.

Six Skippers reached double figures, led by:

  • Kyrieona Carter led the Skippers with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals
  • Taylor Wallace added 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals
  • Off the bench, Soleil DeJesus scored 17 points to go along with 2 steals.
  • Adrien Collins contributed 11 points to the Skipper's effort
  • Sylver Bowles scored 10 and had 6 assists and 6 steals to go with.
  • Iliana Williams posted 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals for an all-around effort.

The Skippers dominated the glass, outrebounding Henry Ford 56–40 and converted 22 second‑chance points thanks to 21 offensive rebounds.

SC4's defensive effort proved equally impactful, holding Henry Ford to 19.2% shooting and just 5 made field goals.

With the victory, SC4 now travels to Schoolcraft College on Tuesday night for a matchup that will determine a share of the MCCAA Eastern Conference championship. The Skippers enter the game riding significant momentum with postseason play approaching.

Thanks to their strong conference finish, SC4 has earned the right to host the first round of the NJCAA Great Lakes District B Tournament. The game will tip-off at 7:00 PM at the SC4 Fieldhouse on Tuesday, March 3. Their opponent is TBD.
