SC4 Women’s Basketball Outlasts Jackson College in Overtime Thriller, 79–73

Jackson, MI. — St. Clair County Community College women's basketball earned a gritty road victory on Saturday, January 17, defeating Jackson College 79–73 in overtime behind a dominant scoring performance from Myana Cooksey and a resilient team effort down the stretch.

SC4 used a big 4th quarter to erase a 12-point deficit before taking control in the extra period, outscoring the Jets 11–7 in OT to secure the conference win.

Sophomore guard Myana Cooksey produced one of the season's standout performances, scoring 31 points on 13-of-25 shooting while adding 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists in 36 minutes. Her ability to generate steals and finish in transition proved crucial in overtime.

While Cooksey led the scoring, the Skippers received important contributions across the roster:

  • Kyrieona Carter followed up her 46-point performance with 22 points, 19 rebounds, and 5 blocks for a key double-double, anchoring SC4 defensively.
  • Sylver Bowles added 11 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds, providing timely scoring.
  • Taylor Wallace contributed 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

After trailing at multiple points, SC4 dominated the fourth quarter to force overtime, then controlled the extra period with defensive pressure and key free throws.
