Port Huron, Mich. - Over the weekend, the Women's Cross Country team competed at the NJCAA Region XII and MCCAA Conference Championships. The event was hosted by St. Clair County Community College at Goodell's County Park. The Skippers raced into a 3rd place finish amongst 13 other teams, which qualifies them to compete at the NJCAA DII Cross Country National Championship on November 8th.
Leading the team was Brynn Hurley, who placed 4th overall and broke the school record in a time of 19:02.8. Hurley's efforts earned her All-MCCAA and All-Region honors. Kate Bennett finished just seconds behind, placing 5th overall in a time of 19:07.5. Bennett's time was a 19 second personal best earning All-MCCAA and All-Region honors. Julia Rogers (20:40.9) and Rowan Conley (20:48.9) put forth solid performances, placing 27th and 29th respectively. Rounding out the scoring was Jenna Denver in a time of 21:27.2, placing 46th overall and running a season best by 37 seconds. Charlotte O'Brien and Angelina Ross also posted season bests in 21:43.5 and 23:00.2 respectively. O'Brien's time was 39 seconds faster than her previous, while Ross ran 14 seconds faster than her previous.
The women will race one last time on November 8th in Fort Dodge, IA at the NJCAA DII Cross Country National Championship, hosted by Iowa Central Community College
