Port Huron, MI – The St. Clair County Community College (SC4) men's basketball team delivered an impressive performance on Saturday, January 3, defeating Kalamazoo Valley Community College 91-81 in Day Two of the Skippers New Year's Classic.
The Skippers improved to 9-6 overall with the victory, showcasing strong offensive execution and balanced scoring. SC4 shot 49.2% from the field and an outstanding 88.5% from the free-throw line, capitalizing on key opportunities throughout the game.
Leading the charge for SC4 was De'Andre Terrell, who scored 16 points and added 15 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 blocks. Chris McLavish poured in 15 points to go along with his 5 assists. Tyler Dorsey provided a spark off the bench with 14 points and 11 boards, while Riley Hunt chipped in 14 points.
The Skippers controlled the pace early, taking a 45-40 lead at halftime, and maintained their momentum in the second half with efficient shooting and strong defense. SC4 out-rebounded Kalamazoo Valley 52-30, a key factor in securing the win.
Kalamazoo Valley (8-6) was led by Lebron Campbell, who scored 23 points, and Josiah King, who added 21 points.
The victory marks a strong finish to the Skippers New Year's Classic and sets the tone as SC4 heads into conference play.
