SC4 Baseball Sweeps Davenport University JV in High-Scoring Doubleheader

Grand Rapids, MI. — The SC4 Skippers baseball team completed a road sweep at Davenport University JV on Tuesday, taking both games of a thrilling doubleheader, highlighted by a 17–16 comeback win in Game 1 and a controlled 8–6 victory in Game 2.

The opener was a back-and-forth offensive battle that saw the Skippers outlasted the Panthers 17–16 in a game featuring 33 total runs. SC4 scored in six of the seven innings, building just enough separation late to survive a push from the home team.

Mason Golabek led the offensive explosion with a monster day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, five RBIs, and five runs scored, accounting for 10 total bases. Peyton Ellis added three hits, two runs, and three RBIs, while Drew Hosterman drove in two runs and scored three times. Ty Fletcher delivered a key five-RBI performance, and Dylan Isrow chipped in with two hits, an RBI, a stolen base, and a double as part of a balanced lineup effort that produced 13 hits and 16 RBIs.

On the mound, SC4 used five pitchers to navigate the high-scoring contest. Camden Townsend started and worked 3.2 innings, while Brett Ringenbach recorded a win in relief as the Skippers battled through adversity to close out the game.

The Skippers carried the momentum into the nightcap and completed the sweep with an 8–6 win behind a steady pitching performance.

The Skippers scored in five of the seven innings and controlled the game from the first pitch, scoring two runs in each of the first three innings before Davenport had a chance to answer. They we led by Trey Taylor who turned in three hits, three RBIs, and two runs.

Danny VandeVyver picked up the win, going the distance with seven innings pitched, allowing three earned runs while keeping Davenport JV off balance throughout the game. His ability to control tempo proved to be the difference.

The doubleheader sweep showcased the Skippers' resilience, depth, and offensive firepower as they continue to build momentum moving forward.
