Port Huron, Mich. — The St. Clair County Community College baseball team turned in a strong all-around performance at home Monday night, sweeping a doubleheader against Alma College JV with wins of 11–1 in Game 1 and 12–9 in Game 2.
SC4 set the tone early in the opener, building a lead in the middle innings and backing it up with solid pitching and defense.
The Skippers totaled 11 runs on 10 hits, highlighted by a big day at the plate from Mason Golabek, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Drew Hosterman added an RBI and scored twice, while also stealing 3 bases. Cooper Letson was an impressive 3-for-4 with 3 hits and an RBI. Will Wigand, Trey Taylor, and Zachary Winston, James Plock, and Dylan Isrow also drove in runs.
On the mound, Camden Townsend delivered a strong start to earn the win, allowing just one earned run over four innings while striking out 3. Brendan Parks followed with a scoreless inning in relief to close out the game.
The nightcap featured plenty of offense from both teams, but SC4 responded with timely hitting and strong relief pitching to complete the sweep.
The Skippers scored 12 runs on 11 hits, led again by Mason Golabek, who finished 2-for-3 with two runs, five RBIs, and a go-ahead three-run home run in the 3rd inning. Drew Hosterman continued his productive evening with three RBIs, three runs, two hits, two walks, and two more stolen bases. Kegan Finn made his impact by belting a solo shot to get the scoring started in what would be a six-run inning for the Skippers. While Trey Taylor also added two RBIs.
SC4 used a deep bullpen in Game 2, throwing seven pitchers just one inning each. Caden Draho earned the win, Lincoln Vaughn secured the save to seal the victory.
With the doubleheader sweep, SC4 moved back to .500 at 8-8 on the season.
