Port Huron, Mich. - The Women's Track Team competed at the Hillsdale College Tune-Up on Saturday, April 25th. Every team member ran a personal or season record to close out the season, with Brynn Hurley qualifying for the NJCAA DI Outdoor Track and Field National Championship.
Lillian Rutallie kicked the day off for the Skippers running the 1500m. She placed 5th overall running less than a second off her personal record in 5:02.31.
Lauren Fowler continued the forward momentum setting a personal record in the 400m. Fowler ran 1:05.66, taking just over 3 seconds off her previous record. Fowler ranks as the #2 Skipper on the Outdoor Track Top 10 record board.
Kate Bennett and Julia Rogers teamed up for 800m race, sustaining the record-breaking trend. Bennett posted a season record, running 2:27.96, placing 6th overall. Rogers set a personal record in a time of 2:29.20, to take 7th place. Roger's time took just over 4 seconds off her previous record.
Hurley and Rutallie rounded out the team's historical performances as an unrelenting duo in the 5,000m. The pair ran stride for stride pushing each other, shattering the 19:31.97 school record. Hurley crossed the line in 19:02.84, while Rutallie finished in 19:19.17. Both times are personal records for each runner. Hurley's effort not only allows her to keep her title as the school record holder but also punched her ticket to the NJCAA DI Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at the Ross Black Track in Hobbs, New Mexico on May 14th through May 16th.
