Hall named Skippers head softball coach

The St. Clair County Community College Athletic Department announced today the hiring of Sarah Hall as head coach of the Skippers' softball program.  Hall graduated in 2016 after playing for the Skippers and has been serving the past four years as an assistant coach.

"It is exciting to hire a former Skipper to lead our softball program. Sarah was not only a great player at SC4, but she was also an All-American at Cleary University," said SC4 Director of Athletics Dale Vos. "Sarah has won a national championship while playing for Cleary University. She knows what it takes to prepare the team in order to win softball games at the collegiate level. There is no doubt in my mind that Sarah will do great things for our softball program!"

While a member of the Skippers 2014-2015 softball team, Hall led the team with a .468 batting average, 46 runs scored, and 58 hits, and was honored with All-Region XII First Team, All-MCCAA, All-Eastern Conference First Team, and was named to the Eastern Conference All-Freshmen Team. In Hall's second season with the Skippers, she led the team again with a .461 batting average, 27 runs scored and 59 hits. Hall received All-Region XII First Team, All-MCCAA, and All-Eastern Conference First Team. Hall also received the Marucci Elite Hitter Award, which recognizes the best hitters in America.

During Hall's two years at Cleary, she was the starting right fielder and led the Cougars to two USCAA tournament appearances, including a USCAA National Championship in 2018. Hall was a two-time First Team All-American and was named the team's Most Valuable Player.

"I have big plans for the SC4 softball program! I want to thrive on intensity and have a championship mindset from day one of each season. The current and future players who come through this program will learn the hard work and the dedication it takes to be at the top, and I am not planning to settle for anything less," Hall said.

"In addition to her on-field performance, Sarah was an NJCAA Academic All-American," said Vos. "With her success in the classroom and on the field, she will be a great role model for our student-athletes." In addition to Hall's NJCAA Academic All-Academic honors, she received, All-MCCAA and All-Conference Academic accolades both years as a Skipper.

"I've wanted to be a head coach for as long as I can remember, but I didn't think I would get the chance this early on in my coaching career," said Hall. "I am so blessed and thankful for this opportunity. Coaching at my alma mater, in the softball community that I grew up in, and began my career in means more to me than I can even begin to describe!"

Hall is a graduate of Port Huron Northern High School. She has an Associate's Degree from St. Clair County Community College in General Business, and a Bachelor of Business focused on Event, Sport, and Promotion Management from Cleary University.
