The 1974 Skippers baseball team was another masterclass of talent assembled by hall of fame head coach Richard “Dick” Groch. The team accumulated the most wins in college history posting a 37-8 record.

The Skippers won the Michigan Community Junior College Athletic Conference (MCJCAC) central division, state title and NJCAA Region 12 championship. Unfortunately, they fell just 1 game shy from qualifying for the NJCAA National Tournament, losing 5-4 to Kankakee Community College from Illinois in the North Central District tournament championship game.

SC4 was led offensively by infielder Mark Milauc who was named a first team NJCAA All-American and outfielder Mike Schervish who was named a second team NJCAA All-American. Schervish also earned the “Big Stick” award for being the best junior college hitter in district 4 after hitting .476 for the season.

On the mound Greg Stone earned all-state, all-region, and all-conference honors for the Skippers.

Team members included Dave Dusellier, Ian Farquhar, Wayne Gottleber, William Pohlman, William Przygocki, Greg Stone, Richard Wehner, Steven Williams, Herb Krul, Robin Wright, Ed Rynearson, Mark Hatch, Deno Hloros, Mark Milauc, Steve Orr, Mike Uetz, Edward White, William Barbis, Thomas Clem, and Mike Schervish. The Skippers were led by legendary head coach Dick Groch who was assisted by Ron Mason.
